KUALA LUMPUR: A Toyota Camry driver is facing widespread criticism for obstructing the path of an ambulance on emergency duty.
The incident, which occurred on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) yesterday, showed the driver seemingly reluctant to change lanes and yield to the urgently-needed ambulance, despite the blaring siren.
Health personnel inside the ambulance even used a loudspeaker to request the driver to immediately make way, but the pleas went unanswered.
Additionally, the Camry driver was observed driving recklessly, making it difficult for the ambulance to overtake.
The video, shared on Info Semasa Official's X account, has quickly gone viral, amassing over 1.2 million views and more than 200 comments since its posting yesterday.
In the comments section, @Mike_Devo expressed concern, stating, "Lives are at stake, and he/she can do this? Crazy... Later, don't go and claim to be a person with a disability."
@AnakPakChot suggested a strict approach, saying, "There's no use issuing summonses on these types of drivers... Just suspend their licence for six months, and they will not dare do it again."
@cinderellaeiou called on authorities to take decisive action, stating, "@PDRMsia, @PDRMsia_Trafik, @JPJ_Malaysia... You have the proof and licence plate. Please do the necessary. Don't let these kinds of people get away. Suspend the driver's licence for 10 years or don't ever let the person drive at all..."
@zahrzikri meanwhile asked, "No one wants to check the details of this car owner?? Maybe put it here and let the public shaming begin..."
