KUALA LUMPUR: A woman took to Facebook to express her disappointment after claiming that a beef soup she bought at a Semabok Ramadan bazaar on Wednesday evening contained fly eggs.
The woman, who came from Johor Baru, stopped by the bazaar to purchase food for iftar and found fly eggs in her soup after returning home.
She said her intention to express her disappointment on Facebook, was not to embarrass the trader, but to caution other traders to be careful so that such incidents would not occur again.
"Is this what they call delicious? The beef smelled bad and it made me very upset and disappointed.
"Please, anyone who sees my post, convey my regards to the seller. We'll meet in the afterlife," she wrote.
She claimed that the seller insisted on selling two containers and gave her an empty bowl of soup without beef for RM10.
"I handed beef RM10 but this uncle told me that his meat soup was delicious and asked me to take two containers even though it was only for me," she said.
Her sharing about this unfortunate experience went viral on social media and received various reactions from the public.
A few hours later, the trader through their official Facebook account issued an apology to the unlucky customer.
They also clarified that there was a misunderstanding and that all their beef soup are priced at RM10.
"The price of the beef soup is RM10 and a packet of soup is given for free as we are afraid that there is not enough soup.
"On the issue of fly eggs, we apologise as we might have overseen that as it was an open space.
"We will ensure that the cleanliness of our food is as clean as possible.. and will maintain the quality of our food," they said.
