HO CHI MINH CITY: Three passengers on a plane heading to Vietnam did not expect to confront thieves while in the air.
According to a viral video posted by travel agency lfg.travel on Instagram, the three passengers at first discovered their cash and credit cards missing on an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam.
The passengers noted that they saw another passenger coming over to their row and taking out luggage from their overhead compartments twice.
"We just witnessed daylight robbery", the narration says, as the video showed a flight attendant finding large amounts of cash wrapped in socks, allegedly put there by the culprit.
The passengers and the suspects were brought to the interrogation room at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, where they then learned that the group of four flew on one-day transit flights around the world, allegedly to commit similar acts.
Netizens commented that similar incidents occurred to them as well.
"Same thing happened to me two weeks ago while travelling on a flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur. There is a pattern and it needs a serious action plan from the airline and airport authorities with police", said user pavlinka_pzzz.
"Well, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, my friend witnessed a man taking off a luggage cover at the carousel.
"She did not wear glasses, that is why she could barely see. When it came closer, and she realised it was her own luggage, it was too late", said user entitythy.
Other netizens gave sound advice to avoid being victims to these crimes.
"Always keep your cash, phone, and passport on your person. Laptop under the seat in front of you. I am an ex-flight attendant. People do steal on flights!", said user weirdlyworldwide.
"Always put your luggage in the compartment opposite your seat, not directly above your seat. This way you can observe who is accessing your luggage", said user rascaltan.
