KUALA LUMPUR: Recent tremors in Ipoh, followed by a loud booming sound, have sparked widespread discussion among social media users, as the event marks another in a series of mysterious explosions in the area.
Facebook user Mior Muhamad Hafiz said that a similar occurrence happened in 2018, with speculation suggesting it was linked to an underground cave collapse due to the limestone-rich Kinta Valley, though this has yet to be confirmed.
Some have also attributed the sound to an earthquake in neighbouring Indonesia, while others speculated it could be a sonic boom.
Another user, Omer Necrofis, pointed out that the 2018 incident still leaves many residents without answers regarding its cause.
Ana Salwa highlighted the eerie similarity in timing between the two events, saying that the previous explosion occurred at 11am, while the recent one was reported at 11.07am.
She recounted her experience during the first incident, describing how her house's sliding door shook violently with the blast, although she was not present during the latest occurrence.
Muhd Faiz echoed this sentiment, saying that both incidents happened in October, the previous one on Oct 4.
Meanwhile, Aishah Dzahari expressed concern over the lack of clarity regarding the cause of the earlier explosion.
