GEORGE TOWN: A motorcyclist, who live-streamed a fatal accident scene on TikTok over the weekend, received an earful from police for his actions.
In the viral clip, a policeman was heard repeatedly asking the man if he understood journalistic ethics.
He also asked the man about the feelings of the deceased and the deceased's family members.
"Do you have the right of a reporter? No right. If you do not have the right of a reporter, you have no right to go live (with your video)."
At one point in the clip, the officer chastised the motorcyclist for trying to capitalise on sympathy to gain viewers.
"You take a live recording and engage in reckless behaviour... it's you, right? Do you want me to take you away?" the policeman was heard saying.
The policeman went on to ask the man what he understood about the ethics of a reporter.
"Tell me what you understand. Are you authorised as a reporter? Why are you so happy about while taking a live video?
"Do you know this is an accident scene? Can you even enter the scene without the police's permission? You can't. Do you know that?" the policeman was heard telling a second motorcyclist.
Netizens have expressed support for the policeman's actions, saying that the man had no right to go live and enter the accident scene without permission.
They also voiced concerns about the live culture. Others argued that he was filming in a public place.
