1,000 Perak PPBM members quit but Muhyiddin says situation under control

BALIK PULAU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has admitted that its Perak chapter is currently beleaguered with the mass resignation of its party members.

Even so, its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has said that the situation is under control.

He said he knew the person behind the move but declined to divulge the said person’s identity.

Muhyiddin said the problem stemmed from the appointment of Perak state PPBM chief Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

“I know who is behind this resignation move. It only involved a few divisions with the majority of divisions still intact.

“I am still waiting to see the so-called 1,000 members who quit, as reported. Where are they?

“I only know that there are a few of them who left. Even then, it will not affect the running of the party in the state,” he said this to newsmen after breaking fast with PPBM leaders and members here.

Muhyiddin said the decision to appoint Faizal as Perak’s PPBM chief was made by the party’s top leadership. It was his decision alone.

It was reported that some 1,000 Perak PPBM members quit recently when their demand for Muhyiddin’s resignation was ignored.
