PORT DICKSON: The Port Dickson parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight in the 14th General Election (GE14).
BN candidate Datuk V.S Mogan, who takes on Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah (PKR) and Mahfuz Roslan (PAS), expressed confidence of recapturing the seat, which has been held by the opposition for two terms.
Meanwhile, for the Linggi state seat, Datuk Abdul Rahman Mohd Redza (BN) faces Noor Mohammad Rizal Ishak (PAS) and Rusli Abdullah (PKR).
It will also be a three-cornered fight for the Sri Tanjung state seat. BN’s R Thinalan will take on M. Ravi Manusamy (PKR) and Kamarol Ridzuan Mohd Zain (PAS).
Thinalan, who is also the eldest son of former MIC secretary-general and Port Dickson (now Sri Tanjung) constituency representative Datuk T Rajagopalu said he will try his best to win and serve the people.
Meanwhile, it will be a straight fight for three other state seats under the Port Dickson parliamentary constituency.
Datuk Seri Lim Chin Fui (BN) is up against Yek Diew Ching (PKR) in Chuah, Yeong Kun You (BN) and Choo Ken Hwa (PKR) battles for Lukut, and Datuk Tun Hairudin Abu Bakar (BN) and Mohamad Ibrahim Khan Amanula Khan (PKR) squares off in Bagan Pinang.
Tun Hairudin, the incumbent for Bagan Pinang, said support from people in the area has been very positive and he is confident that BN will be able to retain the seat.
“Under BN, the people in Bagan Pinang area have been enjoying various facilities and services. More developments are also in the pipeline if BN wins again,” he said.
The official announcement was made by Election Commission (EC) returning officer for P132 Port Dickson, Khairy Maamor at 11.30am.
Meanwhile, Port Dickson district police chief, Superintendent Zainudin Ahmad said more than 700 BN supporters and about 300 from the opposition camp gathered outside the nomination centre since 8.30 am today.
He said there was no chaos reported and the situation outside the complex was kept under control.
He also added a dedicated team of 185 police personnel were also deployed at the complex.
Zainudin also reminded all candidates to apply for campaign permits starting today at the Port Dickson district police headquarters which will be approved in 24 hours.
He also urged all candidates and supporters to follow the rules during the campaigning period.
