IPOH: Bukit Gantang member of parliament Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal says he has yet to receive any writ of summons following his departure from Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) in June.
He said many people have asked him on whether he had received the summons.
“I’ve fielded many questions on this. Even I am waiting for it. I want to know what it contains. Even until today, I’ve yet to receive it,” he said when contacted by NSTP.
Last Saturday, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said several writ of summons have been issued to certain individuals, complete with claims which require them to pay back costs.
Zahid was quoted as saying that Umno acted thus in order to respect the wishes of party members who felt they had been betrayed by the acts of those who left the party.
Syed Abu Hussin left Umno and became an independent on July 1. He said he had wanted to give an opportunity to other to lead the Bukit Gantang Umno division.
His excuse was to give others the opportunity to lead Umno Bukit Gantang.
Meanwhile, efforts to get in touch with another ex-Umno member and Bagan Serai MP Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, who had also left the party, were unsuccessful.
On June 24, Noor Azmi left Umno and BN and declared that he was supporting the leadership of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Pakatan Harapan, as well as that of Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
