PKR needs to resolve its problems immediately, says Anwar

PORT DICKSON: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for attending the party's Central Leadership Council Retreat programme held here tonight.

"I’m feeling a little bit emotional tonight. I hadn’t worked with Dr Mahathir for a long time prior to the 14th General Election, and my first speech with him was held in Port Dickson during the Port Dickson by-election.

"And tonight, we are back together sharing the same stage again. Isn't it weird that Dr Mahathir is giving his speech for a Keadilan (PKR) event? Who would have thought?" quipped Anwar.

In his speech, Anwar also expressed hope that all problems in PKR would be resolved soon to ensure that the country’s administration isn’t affected.

He stressed on the importance of understanding between Pakatan Harapan’s coalition parties and that it must be strengthened.

"With our dedication to Dr Mahathir, whom I have known for a long time, I know one thing that cannot be disputed, that he really loves this country.

"His passion for the country is so strong that he (Dr Mahathir) is willing to work hard to raise the country.

"In PKR, we do have a little bit of problems here and there and it needs to be resolved immediately because we have a responsibility (to develop the country)," he said.

Anwar was speaking at the PKR Central Leadership Council Retreat Session 2018/2021 here.

Also present were Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Meanwhile, asked on why PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was absent from the programme, Anwar declined to touch on the issue.

"I do not want to comment about it," he said.
