Source: Dr Mahathir to have audience with Agong today

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today as the rumour mill over the country’s political situation goes into overdrive.

The New Straits Times has learnt that Dr Mahathir will meet with the King at the Istana Negara here at 5.30pm.

Al-Sultan Abdullah, who had earlier graced a golf tournament in Shah Alam, arrived at the palace via helicopter at 4.30pm.

Earlier today, Dr Mahathir – who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) chairman – chaired a special meeting at Bersatu’s party headquarters at the Yayasan Selangor building, the outcome of which is expected to impact the PH administration.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir’s press secretary Endie Shazlie Akbar said his boss did not have any audience with the king today.

At 7.25pm, 13 vehicles escorted by the police were seen leaving Istana Negara.

Later, another 10 vehicles, this time around without any police escort, were seen leaving the palace.

The group of reporters standing by outside Istana Negara have also not been able to ascertain if any of these vehicles had Dr Mahathir or any PH leaders in them.
