KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Legislative Assembly will reconvene from Aug 23 to Sept 6, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
This is in accordance with the provisions of the Emergency Ordinance (Essential Powers) 2021, he said, adding that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had consented for the state assembly to reconvene through a letter dated July 6.
He said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had also given consent for the First Meeting of the Fourth Term, of the Fourteenth Selangor State Assembly 2021.
"Sultan Selangor has agreed to officiate the opening of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on Monday, Aug 23.
"The state assembly would sit for eight days, from Aug 24 to 27, Aug 30, Sept 1 to Sept 3, and Sept 6," he said in a statement today.
He said the sitting would not be just a special session, but conducted according to the regular session format, consisting of question and answers, and debates.
Amirudin added that the session would be conducted under the Standard Handling Procedures (Tatacara Pengendalian Piawai) and focus on the state government's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to get feedback and suggestions from state assemblymen.
"This is also in line with the people's aspirations for every decision of the state government to be made responsibly and prudently, and at the same time enhance efforts to deal with the outbreak in Selangor."
