No political party can influence PM in parliament dissolution

SHAH ALAM: No political party can influence the prime minister for a parliament dissolution, paving the way for the general election.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said while anyone could provide suggestions and views on the matter, it was still the prerogative of the PM.

"The date for parliament dissolution had never been discussed openly in public, within the party or with others.

"Only the PM has the power to suggest for parliament to be dissolved, but the decision lies with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong," he told reporters after attending the Idea Bina Negara (IBN) Anak Muda Keluarga Malaysia programme at Dewan Agong Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Teknologi Mara.

On the future of the Pas-Umno political cooperation, Ismail Sabri denied that negotiations between both parties had failed.
