KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, who lost the Umno Wanita Bagan Datuk division's race yesterday, claimed an ethical violation had occurred during the election process.
The daughter of the Umno President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, alleged that the violation involved Article 4 of the 2023 Umno Election Code of Ethics, related to undue influence.
"(This is a screenshot of text messages on) WhatsApp on the night of the March 10 election from an identified person. Manipulation, deception, incitement and harassment," she wrote in a Facebook post.
"My battle is far from over. I have not lost, I have just not won yet. I have 115 out of 268 votes, and my opponent 'still winning' with 133 out of 268. I am taking this matter to the Umno Election Committee," she said.
Based on the shared picture, which is believed to be a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation, it contains an instruction asking the Wanita Umno representatives in that division to support the incumbent, Zarozatin Isa.
Nurulhidayah, however, successfully secured a seat in Wanita Umno executive committee (exco).
