DPM calls for political stability at state and federal levels

PAPAR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called for political stability at the state and federal levels.

"Enough with looking at our differences. Instead, we should look at the similarities.

"More important is to prioritise the people so that they will not be (affected) by polemic and different views among leaders who threaten current political situations.

"It is vital to have political stability at the state and federal levels," he said during an official visit at MRSM Tan Sri Musa Aman.

On Wednesday, Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar had expressed concerns over rumours concerning the stability of the government, although six months had passed since the 15th General Election (GE15)

Ahmad Zahid, also the Rural and Regional Development minister, highlighted the prime minister's intention to secure zero poverty this year.

He added that it would be easier to achieve the zero-poverty vision with the help of cabinet ministers and civil servants to execute the transformation.

Under his ministry, Zahid said RM600 million had been allocated for Sabah development in terms of rural infrastructure, water and electricity supply, and the repair of dilapidated houses.

During Ahmad Zahid's last visit, he listed Pitas, Kota Marudu and Tongod as the districts that would require help to elevate their economic standing.

"After discussions with the prime minister, the focus should be given to these three districts to get allocation for the development of sectors that I have mentioned (before).

"The prime minister wants the zero-poverty vision to be achieved this year.

"These poor districts will be upgraded through industrial projects via collaboration with, among others, the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry and the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, as well as the Works Ministry for the roads."
