KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) Pelangai state assembly seat candidate Kasim Samat has questioned threats by certain quarters to drive out his father from the area who is Pas Felda Chemomoi founder.
"At the initial stage of the establishment of Pas in this area, there were various threats. I don't even know... Is it wrong to join Pas?
"This party is legally registered and my father was threatened with expulsion from the area.
"My father is the Pas founder of Felda Chemomoi. Congratulations to him... who is still enthusiastic, as well as my other friends who are both members of the founding group committee (of the area) who are still continuing the struggle.
"Similarly, other friends who were (members of) the Pas founding committee, were subjected to various pressures," he said.
Kasim who is also Pas Bentong vice president however did not reveal who and which party was said to be 'threatening' his father.
He also shared his experiences as a former teacher and politician, where he claimed to have been stopped by the administrator of SK Felda Chemomoi here, even though at that time he had not been 'declared' as the party's candidate to run in the Pelangai by-election.
As an educator who has devoted himself and served at the school, he admitted that he was not sure and did not understand why the administrator of SK Felda Chemomoi prevented him from entering the area.
However, at that time, he said, he wanted to enter the school only to take pictures.
"Recently, I entered the school that I love. I just wanted to take a picture. (But) The school administrator was worried, afraid to allow this person- who the school (used to serve)- into his school.
"I can't even take a picture. I don't understand why. I said I'm a former teacher, I was also a former student of the school. I haven't been announced as a candidate either. What is he afraid of?
"I also asked the police during the Election Commission briefing with candidates and candidate representatives.
"The teacher can come in, even after he is declared as a candidate."
"However, there is a condition that you cannot campaign," the police officer said.
