KUANTAN: Pahang Pas Youth has been rebuked by Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail for their extreme provocation with the latter saying the state government will need to reconsider livestreaming the state assembly sitting in August.
An upset menteri besar said it was unnecessary for the wing to call him a coward and if there was continuous provocation, the state assembly will not be aired live.
"I will consider (if the next session should be aired live) in case there is further provocation. In fact, we had agreed to stream this current session live but we decided to cancel due to the provocation from Pas.
"If we went ahead with the live telecast for this session, then Pas will claim that it was their struggle (for a live session) but when we choose not to do so, they labelled the menteri besar as a coward and this is unfair.
"If there is further provocation, I will not proceed with the live session (in August). To obtain the speeches, we have recordings in the state legislative assembly and our social media.... only seven states stream the state assembly sessions live," he said in the state assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang here today.
Earlier, state Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal during his winding up speech had described Pahang Pas Youth as going overboard when they challenged Wan Rosdy last week to broadcast the session if he was an 'anak jantan' (man enough).
"When the menteri besar explained that Pahang had already planned to go live but shelved the plans following their provocation and will broadcast the next session live, the youth movement once again issued a statement calling the menteri besar a coward... this is rude and inappropriate.
"I have to mention that this is not the first time the state's top leader (menteri besar) has been criticised, not the second time but it has been done on several occasions by the Pas youth movement.
"Issuing such statements should be immediately stopped as this is not the culture practised in Pahang. The political culture of displaying hatred towards leaders should be halted," he said.
Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (Pas-Cheka) stood up saying that the sitting should be aired live as it will allow the public to follow the proceedings.
On May 8, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin assured that the next session of the 15th Pahang assembly sitting in August will be streamed on social media platforms.
Later the same day, the Pahang Pas Youth movement in a Facebook posting wrote #MBPahangPenakut #TiadaLiveDNPahang after the session was not aired live.
Last week, Pahang Pas Youth information chief Ahmad Azlan Abu Bakar dared Wan Rosdy to be an "anak jantan" and broadcast the sitting.
