LANGKAWI: Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) Langkawi Youth chief Muhammad Alif Aiman Azman says he has resigned from his post and party effective immediately.
Alif Aiman said his decision was voluntary and he had lost confidence in the party's direction.
"I don't see the future in Pejuang as it has no clear direction, although its registration was approved by the Registry of Society (RoS) almost three years ago.
"Some of the actions and decisions by national leaders failed to convince me to continue serving in the party's capacity on this tourist island," he said today.
Alif Aiman said he had submitted his letter of resignation from the Youth wing chief's post and party membership to Kedah Pejuang chairman Datuk Aziz Mahmud today.
"Another reason for my resignation is that I am expecting my second child and I will have to devote more time and energy to my family.
"I have been holding this position since July 2021, and this decision is also due to my commitment to managing the family business here in Langkawi," he said.
Pejuang suffered a disastrous defeat in the 15th General Election in November 2022. All the party's heavyweights lost in the polls, including former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
Dr Mahathir failed to retain the Langkawi parliamentary seat, while Mukhriz lost in his bid to keep the Jerlun parliamentary seat.
