KOTA BARU: Former Nenggiri assemblyman Mohd Azizi Abu Naim said he was confident the justice system and legal provisions of the country are the best and will give justice to him.
"Yesterday, l appointed a lawyer to challenge the Kelantan State Assembly Speaker's decision which was announced on June 19.
"I am confident that the justice system and legal provisions of our country are the best and will give justice to me as a representative elected by the majority of Nenggiri voters," he said in a statement today.
"As a client, I surrender completely to the wisdom of my legal team to handle the case and most of all I believe in Allah's fate," he added.
Yesterday, Azizi said he would file an affidavit in court on Sunday to challenge the Kelantan Assembly speaker's decision which was made on Wednesday.
He said the decision was made following an extensive discussion with his lawyer.
On Wednesday, Kelantan Assembly speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, at a Press conference declared the Nenggiri state seat vacant, paving the way for a possible by-election in Kelantan.
Mohd Amar said that the seat was declared vacant effective on that day, following a notification of Azizi's termination received on June 13.
Nenggiri is one of the 45 state seats in Kelantan.
During the 15th General Election, Azizi contested the seat on a Pas-Bersatu ticket and won with a majority of 810 votes.
Azizi garnered 6,517 votes against Barisan Nasional's candidate Ab Aziz Yusoff, who received 5,707 votes.
The general election saw Pas win 43 out of the 45 seats, while Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan each won one seat.
