PORT DICKSON: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) information chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegu Bard, has announced his intention to contest for the Port Dickson division chief post in the upcoming party polls on Nov 2.
Chegu Bard, a party member since 2020, said it was time for him to climb the ladder and be part of Bersatu's leadership.
"I feel that the time has come for me to offer myself for the position of Port Dickson division chief to lead the party at the division level, and I want to start here.
"I have heard that some are campaigning, claiming that Chegu Bard is unfit to be division chief because he is too outspoken and always at risk of being detained by authorities.
"However, I want to stress here that this is the struggle as long as we remain in the opposition," he said when contacted last night.
Chegu Bard also assured that his campaign for the party election would not target his challengers, as he is offering himself for the position with the aim of contributing to the party's development.
"This party must champion issues affecting the people. This party must be the hope of the people, and this party must focus on training and cadre development.
"Bersatu should be a pioneer to ensure that Perikatan Nasional becomes a broad umbrella of the people's strength."
Chegu Bard will faceDatuk Zamri Md Said for the position in the party election.
