KOTA KINABALU: Sabah government must continue to function normally despite the recent graft scandal, said a state Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leader.
Sabah PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin said that doing so would ensure the smooth planning and implementation of projects and activities that safeguard public welfare.
He was responding to the circulation of controversial videos related to alleged bribery involving certain individuals.
While the PKR views the issue seriously, Razeef said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has initiated investigations and summoned several parties.
"Keadilan Sabah urges all parties to cooperate fully, and those who are found to break the law must be brought to justice.
"The Madani government, committed to eradicating the scourge of corruption, will not shield any involved parties.
"Law enforcement agencies and the judiciary are free to carry out investigations and trials as appropriate," he said in a statement.
For the past few days, political party leaders called for the Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to step down.
Razeef said political stability is critical in fostering an ecosystem of economic growth and attracting investor confidence.
"We trust that voters in this state are wise and will choose leaders with integrity in the upcoming election.
"Let them make their choice democratically."
