Seremban needs a facelift

SEREMBAN, once known as a town for retirees, badly needs an upgrade as it moves towards gaining city status under Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

There has been much hype on plans to merge the Seremban and Nilai municipal councils to form the Seremban City Council.

However, there are abandoned commericial buildings and houses in town that need to be restored while all infrastructure and public facilities must be in place before Seremban folk can enjoy city status.

The state government must also resolve the issue of the town’s market, which was razed two years ago.

Although there is progress in reconstructing the market, Seremban Terminal One is
very congested.

The Seremban railway station has also not seen a facelift for many years. There was a proposal to rebuild the station as Seremban Sentral under the previous state government, but it was never realised.

There is no doubt that the state government has moved some development to Labu Sendayan in Nilai.

It has also expanded the town limits to Seremban 2 and Seremban 3 to avoid over-developing the town proper.

Locals are looking forward to Seremban becoming more vibrant and fast-moving, a shopping haven and gourmet paradise for visitors.
