LETTERS: Despite receiving a complaint, Kuala Lumpur City Hall has not responded regarding a situation that's a concern for public safety at Taman Shamelin Perkasa.
It is in reference to several broken drain covers along a road, which have since left gaping holes over a deep monsoon drain, posing a serious risk to unsuspecting pedestrians.
The situation has been so since at least 2022, as even though I am from Penang, I do make regular trips to Kuala Lumpur as both sides of my family reside in the capital city.
Hence, when I saw this danger prevailing for many months, I finally plucked up the courage to compile my picture evidence and sent it using the Adu@KL web portal.
To be sure, it took some time to navigate through the information that was requested of me.
After all the efforts, I patiently waited for the response and have continued to wait.
In the end, I checked through the same Adu@KL web portal with the ID Tiket assigned: DBKL.342683. Lo and behold, there was a response there but with a reply saying that my complaint "tidak dapat diproses kerana butiran yang tidak lengkap" (cannot be processed due to incomplete details) and "mohon nyatakan lokasi aduan" (please state area of complaint).
After reading all that, I tried to look for a way to respond to the reply.
To my surprise, I simply could not do that as there was no reply option. And the comment section was closed. By then, it was Jan 31, 2023, four days after I submitted the complaint.
At the time of writing, it's now Feb 19, 2023, nearly three weeks after I sent my complaint.
From the pictures I submitted, it is clear what danger it poses. It might even be a motorist, motorcyclist, or a cyclist dropping into the gaping hole.
Will KL City Hall be responsible for their inaction? I appeal to the authorities to exert pressure and do the needful.
BOO SOON YEW
