Sze Fei, Izzuddin earn praise after Japan Open victory

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian men's badminton pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani are receiving widespread praise after their triumph at the Japan Open Super 75 today.

Social media is abuzz with congratulations for the duo, who delivered an impressive performance in the final.

The world No.12 pair overcame South Korea's world champions, Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae, with scores of 21-19, 21-15 at the Yokohama Arena.

User Eddie Yuen on Facebook commented, "Keep it up. Maintain the momentum for the Korean Open. A fantastic win through your best performance. Congratulations!"

Kho Li Yen expressed, "What a great performance! This pairing is really maturing and improving rapidly. Good luck and all the best in your future as professional players."

On Instagram, user @castelohas1973 said, "Congratulations. Victory provides motivation, while defeat fosters a fighting spirit that knows no limits."

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh also congratulated the champions on Facebook.

"Congratulations to Nur Izzuddin and Sze Fei for winning the Japan Open Badminton Championship in the men's doubles category. Malaysia has reclaimed the men's doubles title after 22 years, with the last win in 2002 by Chan Chong Ming and Chew Choon Eng," she said.

With this victory, Sze Fei and Izzuddin have now secured five World Tour titles, with this particular win being particularly significant, as their previous victories were from Super 300 or lower-tier tournaments.
