KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's hopes for an all-Malaysian men's doubles final at the China Open were dashed after Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi fell short in the semi-finals today.
The world No. 23 were convincingly beaten by China's world No. 7 He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu, losing 21-18, 21-11 in just 43 minutes at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou.
After the match, Yew Sin said: "The Chinese pair were consistent. Although we tried to keep up, they were just too fast for us."
Ee Yi said: "We have no regrets. Reaching the semi-finals after a four-month absence is a good result. We will learn from this defeat to do better in the next tournament."
With the win, Ji Ting-Xiang Yu will face Malaysia's Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in tomorrow's final.
