KUALA LUMPUR: Independent pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi are satisfied with their run at the China Open despite bowing out in the semi-finals on Saturday.
The world No. 23 were outclassed by China's He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu, falling 21-18, 21-11 at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Changzhou.
Ee Yi said that reaching the semi-finals of a Super 1000 tournament was a positive result, particularly as it marked only their third competition since returning from a long injury layoff.
"We have no regrets. We learned a lot from today's match and will take it as a lesson for the next tournament," Ee Yi told BWF on Saturday.
"We played well overall. Prior to this, we were sidelined for four months and had just returned to competitive action."
The pair made their comeback last month at the Japan Open, where they reached the second round, after a four-month absence from the sport.
Last week, they were knocked out in the opening round of the Hong Kong Open.
For their semi-final finish in Changzhou, Yew Sin-Ee Yi earned US$28,000 (approximately RM117,000).
