KUALA LUMPUR: National badminton icon Datuk Lee Chong Wei took to social media to share a heartfelt farewell message to one of the sport's most respected figures, Hendrawan.
In his Facebook post, he expressed that saying goodbye is never easy, especially when they come from someone who has stood by him through every challenge, both on and off the court.
"Coach Hendrawan, you have been more than just a mentor; you have been like a brother to me in badminton.
"Your patience, wisdom, and passion for the game are unmatched, and there's no question that you have played a major role in my success," he said.
He added that they have shared countless moments of joy, sweat, and tears, and even though Hendrawan is moving on to new challenges, his influence on Lee's career and Malaysian badminton will last forever.
Lee expressed gratitude for all of Hendrawan's contributions over the years.
In the post, he also conveyed his best wishes to Hendrawan for his next chapter.
"Once a coach, always a coach, no matter where life leads you. Thank you, coach Pak Hendrawan!" he said.
"This is a genuine tribute to you for your contributions to me, my family, Malaysian badminton, and the entire badminton community," said Lee.
