Outgoing coach Bin Shen praises Rexy for shaping his career

KUALA LUMPUR: Outgoing national men's doubles coach Tan Bin Shen has hailed BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching director Rexy Mainaky as the most respected coach in badminton.

Bin Shen, who will leave his position on Jan 13 to join the Hong Kong BA, credited Rexy for shaping him into the coach he is today.

"Thank you to BAM and the coach I respect the most, Rexy Mainaky, for all the guidance, care, and support," said Bin Shen.

"You not only helped me become a better coach but also a better person. Thank you for everything, Coach Rexy, and to all the other coaches as well."

Bin Shen played a pivotal role in nurturing top doubles players, including former world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.

He also worked with world No. 3 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, Tee Kai Wun-Man Wei Chong (No. 13), Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri (No. 21), and Yap Roy King-Wan Arif Wan Junaidi (No. 23).

The 40-year-old will complete his final assignment with the national team at the Malaysia Open from Jan 7-12.
