KUALA LUMPUR: A referee and a linesman have been suspended for their controversial decision to award Pahang a penalty kick in the 3-1 win over Selangor at last weekend's Super League match in Cheras.
They are currently serving a 14-day suspension for their poor decision.
FA of Malaysia (FAM) referees committee chairman Subkhiddin Salleh said a free-kick should have been awarded and not a penalty kick as the foul was committed outside the Selangor penalty box.
A video clip revealed that Selangor defender Willian Pacheco had handled the ball outside his penalty box.
Pahang striker Francis Doe converted from the spot for their third goal.
"The committee studied the match report and video clip on the incident.
"Although Selangor did not file a protest, we took immediate action against the match officials.
"We also assessed their performance throughout 90 minutes and found that they were not physically fit.
"Their standard of refereeing also did not meet our requirements in some aspects.”
Subkhiddin revealed that a referee was also suspended for two weeks for his poor conduct during the Premier League match between Kuantan FA and Mifa.
He issued a stern warning to the referee who handled the Super League match between Negri Sembilan and Terengganu.
"Those suspended will have to continue their training in their respective states.
"They will be handling state-level matches. We will send our development officials to monitor their performances.
"We will then decide whether they are up for higher level matches," he added.
