City Boys drop 'Anti-Vax' defender

KL CITY have finally revealed the 'real' reason behind defender Daniel Ting's abrupt departure from the club.

Daniel did not return to the club after the break as he refused to get vaccinated against Covid-19 ahead of the current season.

The naturalised player has parted ways with the Super League club and is back in the United Kingdom.

It was revealed by KLFA president Khalid Abdul Samad during his speech at the association's Congress in KL yesterday.

"Daniel did not want to get vaccinated, and he is now in the UK. He has left KL City," said Khalid.

KL have since replaced Daniel with Declan Lambert, the twin brother of Ryan, who joined the squad last year.

Khalid also revealed that top scorer Romel Morales will play his first match of the season against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) next month.

"Morales is injured, and that is why he has not clocked in a match this season.

"However, the forward will be fit for the match against JDT at the KLFA Stadium on April 6," said Khalid.

Despite their poor start to the season, Khalid expects the City Boys to achieve a treble (Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup) this year.

"Our target is to do better and retain the management that oversaw the team winning the Malaysia Cup last season with Stanley Bernard as the club's chief operating officer and Bojan Hodak as the head coach.

"Except for one or two new players, we have retained our squad from last season.

"If possible, we want to achieve a treble this year," he added.

For the record, KL had lost 3-0 to JDT in the season-opening Charity Cup, and followed up with a 3-3 draw against
Selangor and a 3-2 defeat to Kedah in the Super League.
