Safawi says training with Turtles gives him head start

KUALA LUMPUR: Forward Safawi Rasid is benefiting from Terengganu's decision to start their pre-season early last month.

The Johor Darul Ta'zim player, who is on loan with Terengganu, said he feels good in national training due to the head start with the Turtles.

Safawi, 27, said he doesn't have any problem adapting to national coach Kim Pan Gon's high-intensity training as it is similar to Terengganu's training sessions.

"Terengganu is one of the teams to start training early this season, and the intensity was high. So, I have no problem adapting to this call-up."

Safawi is part of the national team preparing for the World Cup qualifiers against Oman on March 21 in Muscat and on March 26 in Kuala Lumpur.

"The presence of young players in the team is also very good because it creates competition with all the players wanting to get a place in the match against Oman," said Safawi.
