Safee says JDT will face strong resistance in Malaysia Cup and FA Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Former international Safee Sali predicted that Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) will win their 11th consecutive Super League title this season, but he expects the Southern Tigers not to have it easy in the Malaysia Cup and FA Cup.

Safee said the JDT team have great depth and even many of their reserves are national players.

Safee, however, hopes that Selangor or Terengganu will put up a formidable challenge to JDT.

He said the Malaysia Cup competition is becoming more intriguing, and he is hopeful that another team can rise to claim the title.

"I particularly wish to see Selangor or Terengganu emerge victorious this season," said Safee during his podcast, Sports Tarik.

Safee said the FA Cup has its unpredictability too, and it was characterized by surprises in every edition.

He said the top contenders for the competition should be

JDT, KL City, Terengganu, and Kedah.

"The FA Cup is renowned for its unpredictability, with any team capable of lifting the trophy. While JDT are likely to reach the final, they could face stiff competition from KL City or another formidable opponent."
