KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu earned their first three points after seven Super League games with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Penang in Gong Badak yesterday.
This marks a significant turnaround for the Turtles who had not recorded a win since beating KL City 2-0 on Aug 10. Their winner was scored by Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazili in the 27th minute.
National Under-23 goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim made an impressive debut for Terengganu, performing well under pressure.
"We made four substitutions during the match, and it was Rahadiazli's first game this season. The entire team showed tremendous commitment," said Terengganu caretaker coach Badrul Afzan Razali.
Penang's interim coach Mat Saiful saw his team suffer four consecutive losses, leaving them in 11th place out of 13 teams with just 11 points from 14 matches.
Meanwhile, Johor Darul Ta'zim continued their dominance in the Super League with a commanding 4-0 victory over Negri Sembilan in Paroi.
On target for the Southern Tigers were Heberty Fernandes (16th and 22nd minutes), Arif Aiman Hanapi (50th) and Jorge Obregon (penalty, 90+5).
