PETALING JAYA: JOHOR will have to look forward another year after suffering a 46-48 defeat in the hands of Kuala Lumpur at the National Netball Championship at Stadium Juara in Mont Kiara, today.
With the loss, Johor is now on an 11-year drought after a repetition of the 2014 edition whereby KL won and was on an eight-year winning streak.
The Southern lasses who had national player Nur Fariha Abdul Razak in their arsenal kept it tight from the first quarter but the KL proved to be better. This was especially when they were reinforced with Fariha’s teammate and captain Nur Syafazliyana Mohd Ali and goal shoot Shandralelka Shanmugam.
The last time Kuala Lumpur, coached by Rohaya Muhamad, won was back in 2014.
Meanwhile, PDRM finished in third after a narrow 45-42 win against Terengganu while defending champions, Selangor finished in sixth.
