KUALA LUMPUR: The Azman sisters, Aifa-Aira, won two group matches to seal a place in the quarter-finals of the Asian Squash Doubles Championships at Arena Mas in Skudai, Johor, on Thursday.
They outplayed Filipinas Jemyca Aribado-Yvonne Alyssa Dalida 11-2, 11-5 in the morning and Japan's Risa Sugimoto-Erisa Sano Herring 11-0, 11-4 in the evening.
Malaysia's Ainaa Amani-Chan Yiwen also won two group matches, beating Indonesia's
Raifa Putri Yattaqi-Zalzabila 11-6, 11-6 and China's Lee Zi Fang-Gracia Chua Rui En.
In the mixed doubles, three Malaysian pairs reached the quarter-finals after winning two matches in their respective groups.
Rachel Arnold-Ong Sai Hung beat Singapore's Naisha Singh-Anders Ong 11-5, 11-5 and the Phillipines' Yvonne Dalida-Reymark Begornia 11-7, 11-4.
Aira-Syafiq Kamal beat Indonesia's Zalzabilla-Ahmad Syarifatul Huda 11-4, 11-3 and Singapore's Lee Zi Fang-Timothy Leong 11-1, 11-7.
Ainaa-Addeen Idrakie beat Singapore's Zi Fang-Timothy 11-8, 11-2 and Indonesia's Zalzabilla-Ahmad Syarifatul 11-5, 11-3.
Sai Hung-Syafiq Kamal won two group matches in men's doubles, beating Indonesia's Ahmad Syarifatul Huda-Agung Wilant 11-4, 11-2 and Singapore's Anders Ong-Timothy Leong 11-4, 11-0.
