KUALA LUMPUR: The Azman sisters, Aifa and Aira, are now the best women's doubles squash players in Asia.
The second seeded Kedah duo beat their third seeded compatriots, Ainaa Amani-Chan Yiwen, 11-6, 11-7 in the final of the Asian Doubles Championships at Arena Mas in Skudai, Johor, today.
Aira, 19, said it has been a hectic four days for her as she also played in the mixed doubles with Syafiq Kamal.
"I'm happy to win my first Asian doubles title with my sister."
Aifa said she and Aira had only a few days of doubles training. "We last won a doubles title at the Malaysia Games a few years ago."
Ainaa also bagged a mixed doubles bronze with Addeen Idrakie.
Malaysia's hopes of winning the men's doubles were dashed when Ong Sai Hung-Syafiq Kamal lost 11-4, 11-5 to India's Abhay Singh-Velavan Senthilkumar in the title decider.
India's Abhay-Joshna Chinappa won the mixed doubles title by defeating Hong Kong's Tang Ming Hong-Tong Tsz Wing 11-8, 10-11, 11-5.
