Malaysian spends RM11,500 to volunteer at Paris Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian spent nearly RM11,500 to serve as a volunteer at the Paris Olympics.

Andrea Wong, a long-time admirer of the French capital, described this trip as her fourth visit to the city and the most memorable due to the Olympic Games.

"I can't believe I'm so lucky to be part of the Olympics," she said in a Facebook post.

She said the journey was about achieving a personal goal on her bucket list.

Wong said she spent RM3,800 on tickets, RM6,500 on accommodation, and RM1,200 on meals.

The comment section of the post was full of praise for her effort.

"Congratulations on fulfilling your dream," said Jon Ooi.

"The International Olympic Committee should thank you. Without volunteers, the Olympic Games couldn't be successful.

"It's this sense of accomplishment that drives you all to stick to your mission," commented Wong Ser Him.

"Congratulations on making your dream come true," added Esther Chiam.
