KUALA LUMPUR: Yasshmita Jadish Kumar's squash achievements have not gone unnoticed by her university in England.
The Negri Sembilan player, pursuing a degree in Business Management, was recently named the Most Improved Player of the Year at University of West London (UWE) in Bristol for winning tournaments and improving her world ranking.
The 19-year-old receives a 100% scholarship at UWE.
Last year, Yasshmita won Australia's Victorian Open and the Shepparton International. She was ranked 96 last year and is currently 78.
Bristol coach John Welton said: "Yasshmita has had a brilliant first season at UWE and we have seen her development into an impressive professional. er work rate and consistency have improved immeasurably."
Yasshmita, who helped Malaysia win the team silver in the World Junior Championships in Melbourne last year, said: "The award is a big boost for my squash career and I'm looking forward to having a much better outing in PSA tournaments this year."
