SRG players preparing for two world events consecutively

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants (SRG) have only 13 days to prepare for the M6 World Championships as the bulk of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) roster will represent the country at the World eSports Championships (WEC) in Riyadh, Saudi, Arabia from Nov 12-15.

Fresh from their historic back-to-back playoff triumph last week, Haqqullah "Sekys" Ahmad Shahrul Zaman, Hazziq "Stormi" Danish, Qayyum Ariffin "YumS" Mohd Suhairi, Ilman Zareef "Gojes" Zulkifli will be joined by JP Niners players Ealtond "Loleal" Rayner and Amir Zakwan "Zakqt" Mohd Noor in carrying the nation's challenge at the WEC.

SRG's coaching staff Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado and Poon "OzoraVeki" Kok Sing will also be guiding the national team in Riyadh.

SRG's co-founder, Simon Lim, revealed after Sunday's playoff Grand Finals that his coaches requested that the team withdraw from the WEC.

"Unfortunately, the roster has been locked, and if we pull out, Malaysia have to pull out.

"So when it comes to this, the country comes first.

"Unfortunately, we will only have 13 days to prepare for M6 after returning from Riyadh.

"That is not enough time for us but this will not stop us from doing our best for Malaysia at the WEC," said Simon.

SRG could potentially play their first match at the M6 in the Swiss Stage on Nov 28.

Sixteen teams, representing their countries, will vie for glory and a piece of the US$160,000 (RM705,600) prize pool at the WEC.
