SRG star Sekys keen to unwind after hugely successful season

KUALA LUMPUR: After a long and gruelling year of competitions, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) star Haqqullah "Sekys" Ahmad Shahrul Zaman is now looking forward to some rest and relaxation.

Haqqullah has been a key cog in the Selangor Red Giants' (SRG) machine this year, helping the team to historic back-to-back league victories as well as the Mid Season Cup (MSC) crown.

He was also named Most Valuable Player at MSC, which was also his first international competition.

The 18-year-old was also part of Team Malaysia, which won the World Esports Championships in November.

Unfortunately, his season ended in heartbreak after SRG lost to Team Liquid Indonesia (TLID) in the lower bracket final of the M6 World Championship at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil yesterday (Dec 14).

SRG thus finished third in the competition, which was also their maiden appearance in an M Series World Championship.

Haqqullah is looking to unwind and keep himself fresh ahead of the new season.

"Overall, I'm satisfied with my performance this year after winning four trophies," said Haqqullah yesterday.

"For sure, I want to spend time with my family, but most importantly, I want to go on holiday.

"I want a change of scenery. I would like to go on holiday to a winter destination."

Before their loss to TLID, SRG had swatted aside the challenge of Russia's Team Spirit (3-0) in the lower bracket semi-finals.

"Against Team Spirit, we had a specific strategy but when we matched up against TLID, we changed to a different plan and there was a disconnect in our game plan," said Haqqullah.

"Also, if we won the first game against TLID we would have had the momentum on our side."
