KUALA LUMPUR: Singapore police arrested a 50-year-old man yesterday for allegedly stabbing a man to death at a housing block in Clementi Avenue 4.
The violent attack was caught on camera by a resident staying at one of the units.
It reportedly showed the suspect clad in black pants and a t-shirt stabbing the victim, a 41-year-old man at the void deck of the housing block, where he was later found unconscious and bleeding profusely.
The Straits Times reported police saying the victim was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations suggest the victim and suspect knew each other.
The report said Holland-Bukit Timah GRC Member of Parliament Sim Ann was seen comforting an elderly man and woman, who were crying at Block 311B around 7.30pm.
The report added that the video footage recorded by residents showed the suspect chasing the victim to the foot of Block 311B.
"The victim appears to trip over a drain cover and falls, and the suspect seems to stab him repeatedly with a small object," it said.
The report further added that in the video viewed, people were also heard shouting for the suspect to stop, and a woman dressed in red and a parking attendant tried to pull the suspect away from the victim.
At this juncture, it said the victim managed to kick the suspect once before he was seen crawling away but a few seconds later, the suspect dived at him and managed to stab him one more time.
The report also quoted residents who said the man drove to the nearby multi-storey carpark before he was stopped and surrendered to the police.
"The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance at 5pm, and paramedics took one person to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
"Another person was assessed for minor injuries by an SCDF paramedic but declined to be taken to hospital," the report said.
