Five killed, one seriously injured in Songkhla after Malaysian rams car into them

SONGKHLA: Five people were killed and another seriously injured after they were mowed down by a car driven by a Malaysian in Rattaphum District, Songkhla this afternoon.

In the 3pm incident (local time), the victims, who cut grass for a living, were taking a break by the roadside when they were hit by a Perodua Myvi that was driven by the 30-year-old woman.

The woman and her two friends, who were travelling from Krabi to Hatyai, Songkhla, sustained minor injuries.

Rattaphum district Crime Investigation police chief Pol Col Theva Daoruang said four victims died at the scene while another died at Rattaphum Hospital.

He said the sixth victim, who was severely injured, is receiving treatment at the hospital.

"Initial police investigations found that the driver was believed to have lost control of the car, causing it to skid before crashing into the victims who were sitting by the roadside," he told Bernama.

All the victims were aged between 34 and 56 years old.
