Lokman: Take action against Tony Pua under Sedition Act for criticising Pardons Board

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam has urged the Home Ministry and police to take action against DAP senior politician Tony Pua under the Sedition Act for allegedly disrespecting a decision made by the Pardons Boards when it was chaired by former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

"This behaviour is utterly disrespectful. Pua has insulted the (former) king and disrespected his decision.

"I urge the Home Ministry and the police to take immediate action and apprehend Pua under the Sedition Act.

"Pua did not issue only one criticism, but has made three posts disparaging the decision of the Pardons Board.

"If swift action is not taken against Pua, it will set a precedent for other Umno members to question the board's future decisions," he said in a video shared on his Facebook page today.

Lokman said DAP should take decisive measures against its members who disrespect the board.

He said failure to do so would suggest that the party agreed with Pua's views.

"If DAP fails to address Pua's actions, it implies that the leadership endorses his statements."

Pua, a former member of parliament for Petaling Jaya, had expressed his dissatisfaction with the Federal Territories Pardons Board's decision to reduce Najib's jail sentence and fine for his SRC International case conviction.

Pua had shared a series of cryptic posts on his Facebook account.

"I beg your pardon?" wrote the former DAP publicity secretary in one post.

The board decided to reduce Najib's prison sentence from 12 to six years and the fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.

Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined RM210 million after being found guilty of abuse of power, breach of trust and money laundering involving RM42 million from SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
