Cops investigating if crashed Subang heli had interstate travel permit

KUANTAN: Police are investigating if the operator of the helicopter involved in a crash at Subang's Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport yesterday had obtained an interstate travel permit.

State police chief Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hassan said the department was still verifying if the pilot and four passengers had followed standard operating procedures, and secured the green light to take-off from Sungai Lembing near here.

"Investigations are ongoing and we are working with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to verify the matter. Please do not make any assumptions until the investigation has been completed," he told reporters when met after the 214th Police Day celebration at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee hall here today.

In the 9.25am incident yesterday, an Airbus H125 helicopter crashed at an open area of Subang's Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

The private flight with one pilot and four passengers on board departed Sungai Lembing at 8.30am to Subang via Maran, Temerloh, Karak and Batu Caves, Selangor.

Two victims suffered injuries while three others escaped unhurt.
