The 45-year-old’s appointment was announced by the FA of Malaysia (FAM) today as a replacement to Dollah Salleh, who resigned after the 10-0 trashing by UAE in Abu Dhabi.

It is Kim Swee’s second stint as interim coach as he was also in-charge of the senior team for four months early last year.

“I do not know what to say. I am honoured and this is a huge challenge. I will prepare the team the best possible way against Saudi Arabia,” said Kim Swee today.

Kim Swee is expected to remain as the interim coach until his contract with FAM expires on Dec 31.

FAM deputy president Datuk Mokhtar Ahmad has been given the task to scout for a capable coach for the senior team.

Kim Swee will be assisted by Australian Brad Maloney and Yong Wai Hwang (goalkeeper trainer).
