KUALA LUMPUR: Solarvest Holdings Bhd and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have joined forces to advance Malaysia's digital power and renewable energy (RE) sector.
According to a joint statement, the partnership aims to promote a greener and more energy-efficient future by leveraging advanced technologies such as smart photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems.
Solarvest will spearhead the development and execution of RE projects, encompassing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) activities.
Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia will provide technological expertise and support to ensure the projects' success.
The collaboration focuses on three key areas: integrating smart PV technology into Solarvest's current and upcoming projects, deploying "solar + battery energy storage systems (BESS)" to enhance Malaysia's energy resilience, and fostering local talent in green energy technologies.
"Huawei Malaysia will play a key role in providing training in solar PV systems, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies. This will help create a skilled green workforce that is ready to support Malaysia's green economy," it said.
Solarvest executive director and group chief executive officer Davis Chong Chun Shiong stated that incorporating advanced Smart PV and energy storage technologies into key Malaysian initiatives such as LSS5, CGPP, and CRESS improves the efficiency and stability of renewable energy projects.
"Our collaboration is more than achieving energy goals, it is an investment to the future of Malaysia.
"Solarvest has been dedicated to supporting Malaysia's shift to clean energy, building a skilled green workforce and improving the resiliency of energy infrastructure," he said.
Huawei Malaysia chief executive officer Simon Sun said the company has delivered inverters to Malaysia that will generate about 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 1.81 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
"Through our partnership with Solarvest, we hope to drive further progress, strengthen Malaysia's leadership in RE and support a more sustainable future for the nation," he adds.
