IN today's hybrid working environment where one has to go through a number of online meetings daily, having a good and reliable external speaker would help a lot in terms of productivity.
This is because when you're in an online meeting, it's important that you are able to hear what's being discussed clearly.
From the specifications, the device promised a range of features that could significantly enhance my remote working experience, as well as for entertainment.
First impression
Simple packaging for products has become a trend nowadays, and the Jabra Speak2 75 follows it.
The speaker comes in a minimalist, eco-friendly package, which I appreciated.
I feel that Jabra's move towards sustainable packaging is commendable.
Inside the box, the speakerphone was neatly packed along with a carry pouch. While the pouch is a thoughtful addition, I felt that the slot for the dongle could have been designed better to ensure secure storage.
Connectivity and setup
Nobody likes confusing setup. The setting-up experience I had the Jabra Speak2 75 is great. Setting it up was a breeze. The device offers multiple connectivity options, including USB-A/C, Bluetooth, and a Bluetooth dongle.
Besides that, the Jabra app, which I already installed on my phone for my previous Jabra products, further enhanced the setup experience, allowing me to tweak various settings like bass, treble, etc, to suit my preferences.
Audio quality
The audio quality of the Jabra Speak2 75 is exceptional.
The advanced full-range 65mm speaker delivers powerful, clear and crisp sound, whether I was on a call or listening to music.
The full duplex audio feature allowed for natural, free-flowing conversations, a significant improvement over many other speakerphones that struggle with simultaneous speaking.
On top of that, the four beamforming noise-cancelling microphones did an excellent job of picking up my voice while minimising background noise.
One standout feature is the Microphone Quality Indicator, which is a 360-degree light ring that visually shows how well the microphones are picking up voices.
Daily companion
After using it for a while now, I can say that the Jabra Speak2 75 proved to be a reliable daily companion.
Its portability and battery life were particularly impressive.
I also find the speaker to be solidly built and have a rubbery based that makes it "stick' to the surface of the table.
With up to 32 hours of wireless battery life, I rarely needed to recharge, and the built-in cable made charging quick and convenient.
The speakerphone's IP64 rating for dust and water resistance also means I can confidently use it outdoors without worrying about damage.
Besides that, the touch-sensitive buttons for volume control, call management, and muting were intuitive and responsive, allowing me to manage calls efficiently without reaching for my keyboard or mouse.
This hands-on control helped me stay more engaged in meetings, reducing the temptation to multitask too.
Meeting and sound quality
The Jabra Speak2 75 truly excels in meeting environments, both small and large.
Its super-wideband audio and Voice Level Normalisation technology ensured that everyone's voice was heard clearly and at a consistent level, regardless of their speaking volume.
This feature is particularly useful in group settings, where varying voice levels can often disrupt the flow of conversation.
I also tested the speakerphone in different locations around my home office and even in large rooms.
In every scenario, the device maintained high audio quality, providing clear and rich sound output. The compact size and lightweight design (weighing just 466g) made it easy to carry around.
Conclusion
The Jabra Speak2 75 exceeded my expectations in many ways. Its combination of advanced audio technology, user-friendly features, and robust build quality make it an excellent choice for anyone in need of a portable speakerphone.
Whether for remote work, small meetings, or just as a Bluetooth speaker for music, the Speak2 75 delivers great performance.]
I highly recommend this speaker to professionals and remote workers looking for a reliable and high-quality audio solution.
It is priced at RM2,380.
