H&M rolls out new paper packaging

As H&M moves towards sustainable practices, the Swedish fashion retail brand rolled out its new paper packaging system for online shopping in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The bags and boxes in different sizes are made from sustainably-sourced paper which is reusable, recyclable and compostable.

Although replacing the use of plastic throughout its logistics supply chain is still in the works, switching to paper packaging marks an important step for the company.

By 2030, H&M aims to have all of its packaging made from recycled or sustainable sourced material.

Regional Manager of H&M South Asia and Pacific, Oldouz Mirzaie said: "Decades ago, we democratised fashion, now it's about democratising sustainability, making sure it's a natural part of everywhere we do and making it easy for our customers to make that choice as well."

Meanwhile in stores throughout Southeast Asia, H&M has implemented its Let's Reuse initiative, where it implemented a charge for every paper bag.

The initiative was set up to encourage customers to bring their own reusable bags when shopping at H&M.
