(Showbiz) Shira stands by husband, unfazed by possible ban

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress and television host Sharifah Shahirah stands by her husband, actor and producer, Ijoy Azhari, who has filed a lawsuit against TV Al-Hijrah to seek outstanding production costs of RM265,000.

Sharifah or Shira to fans and friends, admits that this will jeopardise her chances of hosting programmes or starring in dramas produced by the television station, but she is unperturbed by such a loss.

In a recent report, she said: “Ijoy knows what he is doing, and as his wife I fully believe he’s doing what’s right. Some of my friends felt that this may affect my job prospects, but it doesn’t bother me because I can always find work with other stations.”

Shira admitted that television stations have a right to decide against featuring certain individuals, and if TV Al-Hijrah says no to her as a result of Ijoy’s lawsuit, she will accept her ban with an open heart.

“My family comes first, and when my husband is aggrieved, it’s my duty to stand by him till he is duly compensated,” she said.

Shira explained that Ijoy was exercising his right as a television producer to seek payment that was due to his production company, and he chose to take his grouse to court because it was the only avenue left for him to seek redress.

She added: “If a door closes on me, there will always be other doors that open wide.”
