#Showbiz: Avoid expensive handbags if it lands you in debt - Zarina Anjoulie

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Zarina Anjoulie has fired a stinging rebuke against Netizens who go into debt simply to buy expensive handbags.

In an Instagram post yesterday, she said: "I don't understand why some people want things to be cheaper and cheaper when they've already been offered the cheapest possible price.

"If you don't have the budget for it, then just don't buy it or buy an imitation.

"Honestly, there's no point buying the original if you stinge on monthly expenses by eating only instant noodles.

"If you just want to spend money to show off, don't expect your social media followers to pay your bills.

"Do what makes you happy, not what makes others happy."

Zarina's followers gave her the thumbs up for her honest comment, but one anonymous Netizen slammed her.

The Netizen said: "Bila nak stop dengan kejakunan ini?" ("When are you going to stop all this nonsense?")

Zarina subsequently skewered her, and replied: "Because this is my Instagram page and I post whatever I want. Just because you follow me, I don't have to post what you want. Petty people will always complain about others' posts. Carry on with your fake life and fake accounts."

Zarina is known to be outspoken on social media, and early this month, she took a swipe at celebrities who were caught wearing imitations on social media.

She jokingly said on Instagram that Malaysians were among the best “lifters”, who not only wore imitation fashion and tudung (headscarf) brands, but “also stole spouses”.

Her sarcastic remark came in response to an expose by a Netizen with the Instagram account @streetwearbustamy late last month, which revealed that some local celebrities wore knock-offs.

The artistes who were “busted” for using imitations included Emma Maembong, Haqiem Rusli, Fathia Latiff and Janna Nick.
