KUALA LUMPUR: “This is just not right, we are good friends and should not be pitted against each other.”
Popular actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin expressed such regret after reading an entertainment portal’s recent article which compared Elfira Loy’s Jan 1 wedding with hers.
She said in a news report today that it was “unhealthy” for entertainment portals and bloggers to compare artistes’ wedding receptions, and they should instead highlight their latest work.
“I was shocked to read that article, which said Elfira’s wedding reception ‘overthrew’ mine in scale.
“Why should our weddings be compared? Why should we be pitted against each other to see whose is bigger or better? It is just not right!”
Fazura said she and Elfira were good friends and regarded each other as sisters.
The Gol Dan Gincu star also said that she and her actor husband Fattah Amin never saw themselves as Malaysia’s No. 1 celebrity couple. Neither did they consider their wedding in late 2017 as the Wedding Of The Year.
“Elfira was also shocked by the comparison. I hope that entertainment portals and blogs refrain from unethical reporting that puts artistes down. They should always make positive and constructive reports about us,” said Fazura.
Separuh Jiwaku star Elfira, 24, tied the knot with Khairol Faris Anuar, also 24, on Jan 1. It has been reported that the newlyweds will have five wedding receptions this month.
Fazura, 35, and Fattah, 28, held two wedding receptions following their marriage on Nov 27, 2017. The first which had a “fairytale” theme was held last February while the second, a traditional theme, took place the following months.
